Overview

This spring break, step away from the ordinary and discover a different way of seeing the world.

Boston College students will serve in one of two unique communities across Iceland. Some students will partner with the Salvation Army in Akureyri, supporting families, refugees, and others through practical acts of hospitality and care. Others will work alongside local environmental organizations in Krýsuvík, helping restore and steward one of Iceland's remarkable natural landscapes.

Although every placement is different, every Compass experience shares the same foundation: meaningful service, authentic community, intentional reflection, and opportunities to experience the extraordinary beauty of Iceland.

You'll return home with more than incredible memories. You'll come home with new friendships, fresh perspective, and a deeper understanding of how small acts of generosity shape both the communities we serve and the people we become.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve alongside local organizations supporting communities through hospitality, environmental stewardship, and practical acts of care.

  • Learn from Icelandic leaders while experiencing a different culture and way of life.

  • Explore Iceland's waterfalls, glaciers, volcanic landscapes, mountains, and black sand beaches.

  • Practice daily rhythms of reflection through Compass Time and Table Talk.

  • Build lasting friendships with fellow Boston College students through shared meals, service, and adventure.

  • Discover how ordinary acts of generosity can shape both the communities we serve and the people we become.
